SEP's 1st Wind Power Project in Europe Completes 1st WTG Hoisting

On the morning of April 14, Mozura Wind Power Project in Montenegro, the first greenfield renewable energy project jointly developed by SEP and Maltese government in Europe, completed hoisting of the first wind turbine generator (WTG) successfully. Joe Mizzi, Maltese Minister for Energy and Water Management, Miodrag Canovic, Assistant Minister for Ministry of Economy of Montenegro, and SEP Chairman Wang Yundan, as well the representatives of the project shareholders, local partners and Chinese enterprises attended the hoisting ceremony held at the project site.

Joe Mizzi highly affirmed the successful cooperation between SEP and Enemalta. He expressed that both sides have made material contributions to the stable power supply and rapid economic growth in Malta through joint efforts in the past three years, established friendship based on mutual trust and mutual benefit, and thus promoted cooperation on the first renewable energy project in Europe. He also hoped the project could lead to more replicable business models and management methods for renewable energy project development in the other countries going forward.

Miodrag Canovic made a few remarks on behalf of the government of Montenegro, saying that Mozura Wind Power Project in Montenegro would provide stable power supply for the surrounding areas of Mozura, and thus had a great significance for Montenegro to execute the commitment of producing clean energy in order to join EU. He wished the success of the project to lay a solid foundation for future joint development of other energy projects in Montenegro.

Wang Yundan appreciated the phased success achieved by SEP in energy investment in Malta, in the hopes of applying the precious experience to Europe, 16 Central and Eastern European countries and North Africa. He noted that SEP would like to take Malta as the starting point, join hands with Maltese government to "go global", respond to China's Belt and Road Initiative, and leverage the country's outstanding technology, management and capital advantages in Europe.

Mozura Wind Power Project in Montenegro, with total installed capacity of 46 MW, is the first renewable energy project in Europe developed by International Renewable Energy Development Ltd (IREDL), a subsidiary of SEP (Malta) Holding Ltd. (SEPM), jointly with its partners including Enemalta and Envision Energy, a Chinese wind turbine manufacturer. The project adopted 23 sets of 2 MW low-speed intelligent WTGs manufactured by Envision Energy, with total investment of 90 million euros. The first concrete date (FCD) for the project took place in November 2017, with the commercial operation expected to start by the end of 2018.
